The Problem: BHA RemovalWhen it is time to remove the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA), workers search for scrap plastic to wrap the BHA, often using plastic wrapping that came with the delivery of chemicals or some other source. The crew wraps the BHA with the scrap plastic and ties it with scrap rope. As the BHA is raised, pressure is released into the plastic, and bulges begin to appear where the material is trapped between the rope and the plastic. Workers gather around the BHA holding onto the plastic to ensure that it does not come off during the process. The plastic will often burst and shower the workers with liquid, soaking them. Not only does this increase the chance for injury, but it delays production while workers get clean and dry again.
